And so, the time had arrived to bid farewell to this season. I think it fair to say it was once again, all a bit different but, happily, by the last few weeks, those members who were happy to return to the hall were doing so and it was very good to be back.

Our AGM passed without too much time being taken up and we covered our ups and downs of the season accordingly – more of the former I am pleased to say! We have yet to appoint a Chair for the club but we have made sure that the duties and functions that the club needs to operate are all taken care of so that we can continue. I hope we will find a member happy to take on the Chair role in the near future.

Chris R gave notice of his intention to stand down as Treasurer. He has done a great job in making the financial side of the club much easier to operate and thus something that can be undertaken with just a little bit of understanding. Much of the work is automated and our new bank account with Nat West has an app to make that side run smoothly.

We also bade a fond farewell to Philip R as Club Secretary. He will be moving away from the area in the coming weeks and it is right to once again thank him for his work on behalf of the club. He promises to tune in when we are on Zoom next season!

These changes mean that the three main roles of the club will all be in new hands over the next 12 months. David M is to be our new Secretary and we will hopefully find a Chair and Treasurer quickly too.

We took a look back at the season just passed and assessed the results of our surveys for our presenters and judges. I think they were mainly reflective of the evenings and the fact that we had some better received than others. I think these surveys are very useful and I hope we see more members take part when we start up next season. Understandably, the responses did drop away once we stopped streaming but the results and comments do help us set up and make sure we get a good mix of speaker and also vary our choice of judges over time.

A few members did bring some wine and snacks for our break – very enjoyable – and that led us nicely into our awards part of the evening.

Above is the final scoresheet and with a big thank you to David P for once again producing some quality certificates, we duly presented the following:

Thanks Brian for the AGM report and end of term results. In relation to the latter I see that you have given me as runner up in the Mono PDI’s. Although I would always be happy to take second place to such an excellent photographer as Dave S, in this instance, however, we wound up on equal points. So unless you are working on goal difference then we come out as equal firsts. I am sure an oversight on your part.

Mea culpa Martin. Please accept my humble apologies for getting this wrong when preparing the certificates. Brian must have referred to these in compiling his list of winners for his blog.

Congratulations on your joint win with Dave S. I need to prepare a couple of corrected certificates for you both. Sorry!

Apologies Martin. I should have checked this before the presentation. Glad all is resolved and I’ve amended the results above.
