Photo Exhibition at the V&A
There's a fascinating exhibition running at the V&A until November 2022. Called 'Maurice Broomfield: Industrial Sublime', it's in the Photography Gallery at the V&A and is free entry. As the accompanying website explains, 'Maurice Broomfield (1916 – 2010) made some of the most spectacular photographs of industry in the 20th century. His work spans the rise of post-war industrial Britain in the 1950s to its slow decline into the early 1980s. From shipyards to papermills, and textiles production to car manufacture – he emphasised the dramatic, sublime and sometimes surreal qualities of factory work across the UK.' There are some really stunning images and you also get to see contact prints of images that didn't quite make it.
Thanks, Philip. That really interests me and will go. Have you been yet? Sounds like you've at least seen his images somewhere.
